The emergence of the new identity of the Community of Nea Galini in Nea Kallikrateia and the ways to deal with the daily problems in a Community with a long history and past, were the focus of the first meeting of the Board of the Cultural Association with the residents of Nea Galini,on Saturday, the 8th of July at 19.00.
\nThe Deputy Mayor of Nea Propontida, Dimitris Chatzialexis, actively participated in the meeting.
\n“I feel a great relief that we are all here today for our Community, which is great in every way, as it has always been the case in the last 45 years,” the Association’s President Michalis Dimitriou said, opening the dialogue.<\/p>\n
The residents had the opportunity to get answers from Mr. Hadzialexis on the major issues that concern them, such as the inclusion of the Community in the city plan, the water supply, the biological cleaning solution for the drainage, the plan for the damaged part of the beach road and the blocks at sea, the asphalting of the rural roads that cross the Community and finally the conditions that exist for becoming a permanent resident in our Community.<\/p>\n
The Deputy Mayor committed himself to the implementation of anti-flood projects on the coastal front and to any legal assistance of behalf of the Municipality to Nea Galini Community, both in the short term and in the long term, given the funds that the Municipality of N. Propontidas is going to receive for this purpose. The project will not be easy, because as he characteristically pointed out: “With climate change we face many and very serious problems, such as coastal erosion”.<\/p>\n
Very serious everyday issues were also answered, such as how and when the streams, the roads of the Community and the beach are cleaned. The new legislation regarding the necessary cleaning of unstructured buildings to avoid potential fires and for hygiene reasons was analyzed, as well as what is provided for the collection of inert materials and bases.<\/p>\n
Grasses and branches, litter bins, street lighting and recycling with composting were another important part of the residents’ discussion with Mr Hadzialexis.<\/p>\n
From the Association’s point of view, and in the context of the new strong identity of the Community, the residents were informed by the Secretary Sofia Iordanidou, a journalist and resident of Nea Galini, about the initiative to create – with the help of a drone – a digital map with new street names and new numbering , the new proposed marking of the Community with European specifications, the creation of a modern website www.neagalini.gr and social media (Facebook page, Facebook group, Instagram), actions that all contribute to the smooth transition of Nea Galini to the new digital time.<\/p>\n
A lot of emphasis was placed on volunteering and the initiatives that residents can take for a new way of managing all the above problems and thus making the Community clean and welcoming. An important part is the planned actions of the Association, which are all analyzed on the website of the Community www.neagalini.gr , but also the specially designed space for members, where they can submit their requests and comments and actively participate with suggestions and thoughts which will improve the position of the Community and its daily life.<\/p>\n
